Scholarship Essay Tips

Where else can you look for scholarships?

  • check with your parent's employer--some offer scholarships to employees' children

  • check with your church and community organizations, credit unions, insurance agencies, etc.

  • check with your specific college/university--almost all of them offer scholarships, but pay attention to their deadlines.

  • Register with one or more scholarship search services. You can set up a profile on these sites and they help find scholarships that match your qualifications.

  • Register with Raise.me.  Most THS students set up a Raise.me account in class, but it's easy to sign up if not.  Enter your information and update it each semester to see how being a good student can pay off in the form of a scholarship.

  • The Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation publishes a helpful guide with estimated costs for each college and university in Texas.

WARNING:

Scholarships are FREE!  Do not pay someone to search for scholarships for you!
